It is not a leader’s, Christ follower’s appearance by which one perceives and discerns them. It is their spiritual fruits.

No where does Apostle Paul, the author of 2/3 of the New Testament teach, “Know me, know my hairstyle” (PS or charisma, flamboyance, glitz, big life style or manner (or manor for that fact! ).

Apostle Paul commended the young disciple, Timothy for taking time to truly observe and deeply become acquainted with Paul’s doctrines, lifestyle (probably behind the scenes not only just out in front of other people).  See below:

“But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience.” Apostle Paul 2 TImothy 3:10

The following is a list of all of the traits pioneering Paul admired in young Timothy. He stated know me by

  • “Know my doctrine”:  Did Apostle Paul’s ministry leader doctrine line up with Scripture? Was it biased, prejudiced? Demeaning? Was is dominating? Was it focused on getting more money for apostle Paul? Was it “Bless Me and My 4 but now  more” self centered? Did it use hierarchy, legalism, peer pressure, any manipulation (spiritual, natural, emotional, monetary) to get others to do it’s own bidding?

  • “Know my manner of life” Private life and public life. Was Apostle Paul all about HIM and HIS MINISTRY PERSONA? Or was senior apostolic office holder Pioneering Paul, truly genuine, humble, and did his witness (on prophetic stage and off) model /embody James 3:17:

  • The wisdom that comes from above is first pure, peaceable, easily entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.” James 3:17.

  • Did Paul treat all kinds of persons with respect, Godly compassion and did he have a religious respecter (which is part of James 3:17) or did he truly care for, willing accept and truly RESPECT all the many different kinds of God made people without any regard to their socio-economic class, education, race, gender or religious (Gentile or Jew)?

  • “Know my purpose” Timothy knew Apostle Paul’s personal motives: Was Paul in senior ministry to make money from it and were his motives pure? Did Paul have a secret personal agenda? Paul would never “use” anybody, undermine them or walk over them, spread evil tales in order to further himself look better or in order to further his own ministry.

  • “Know my faith.” Paul commended Timothy for his own unfeigned (not fakey, pretentious, putting on airs , impure ) but genuine loving well founded deep mature faith. He and Timothy undoubtedly had spent many hours connecting in ministry fellowship and during Paul’s house bound prison times. Apparently Paul understood that pure hearted similar Timothy could “read him accurately” (know him by perception along with character and deep personal leader integrity)

  • “Know my longsuffering” When Apostle Paul was opposed, he endured as a faith filed, long suffering “overcomer.” Through prison time to prison time, from ship wreck to enduring danger, heightened pressure and much suspicion, enduring, forgiving trusting Apostle Paul was surely well known by his spiritual fruit (James 3:17/Galatians 5:22) but also by his “faith and patience.”

  • Know my charity.” Apostle Paul was not a hard hearted, compassion free, all wise leader. None of Paul’s books preached as Self Involved, Me Centered Bless Me Gospel. In fact, upon close examination, we may determine that Pioneering Apostle Paul was more for “Christ Following True Community ” in his writings than all of the other First “Organic” Chief Apostles. (Bible Study Ephesians 2:14- 5:21, with a big close focus Chapter 4 in deep depth).

  • “Know my patience” Longsuffering, major endurance, hardship, great leader sacrifice are all Pauline hallmarks for apostolic servant top leadership. Paul’s Eternal Perspective surely assisted him in having great leader patience. His trip to the third heaven so encouraged the pioneering leader that he “counted this life all but dung” in light of knowing Christ. He also took a servant view regarding his office when he declared that the office of the apostle was “the off scouring of the world.”

  • And Paul, who lived in the midst of all the types of  kingdoms of both  the natural and spiritual real world, Paul wrote that “Godliness with contentment is great gain. ” (I Tim 6:6). To the writer this implies that Paul fully kept his priorities straight. Paul evidently did not feel pressure to strive for finances, nor put pressure on others to provide for HIM. He believed God and somehow the Lord always provided.

PAUL AND THE OTHER 12 FIRST CHIEF

APOSTLES

In early entries in the other OFFICIAL TAVEAU D’ARCY LEADER BLOG www.taveauleader.com we studied the First Church Apostles. I wrote that while apostle Paul is now widely renown and grouped along with the First “Organic” Twelve, he really came on the Jerusalem town scene later. And he had been widely known and feared (formerly) as the murderous Saul, the first church demonic persecutor.

Way back in First Church pioneering leader days, there was NO all reporting media, no Facebook or internet back ground checks in that period of time, even while Saul was radically converted and became God’s apostle Paul, for 14 long years, Paul was avoided, deeply mistrusted and perhaps gossiped about, due to  ignorance, leader emotional immaturity and/or a bit of moral weakness that perhaps avoided taking  responsibility for going to meet with Paul in person.

Evidently,  Paul was deeply relieved when his spiritual son Timothy showed emotional maturity, and high moral character as he evidently bent over backwards to RISE UP to check his very own spiritual father, Holy Spirit mentor, out personally, doctrinally, by lifestyle fruit, and evidently hung out with Apostle Paul to see where he really was in personality, beliefs, and senior pioneering ministry.

WALK LIKE A BEREAN (NOT AN EGPYTIAN)

“(The Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:11

And the Bereans were also commended by the Apostle Luke, writer of the book of Acts,  for not just “swallowing hook, line and sinker” the doctrinal Kool Aide set forth by the Jerusalem Apostles.

The New Testament Bible verses below help significantly when observing any other persons, leader, disciples, “professional Christian’s” BIBLE SPIRITUAL TRUE FRUIT:

“The fruits of the Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness (not wuss weakness), temperance (self control),  against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-13

“The wisdom that comes from above is first pure, peaceable, easily entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, without hypocrisy.” James 3:17

Because James 3:17 addresses SPOKEN BIBLE, APOSTOLIC TEACHING, which may be TV, local pastor, office of the prophet, apostle pioneering a work, big or very small, and /or a Christian book, leader equipping, purported visions and dreams, give words of advice/wise counsel, etc. we should also view DEMEANOR, BEHAVIOR, CHARACTER, PERSONAL, LEADER integrity also, through the clarifying lens of James 3:17.
